卐 Swastika 卐
The word “swastika” comes from the Sanskrit svastika:
“su” meaning “good,” “asti” meaning “to be” and “ka” as a suffix.
Since prehistoric times this primitive sign has appeared with innumerable variations in pagan mythology and religious symbolism.
In ancient nature worship the swastika was of great importance, representing the sun itself, planetary rotation, the regular procession of the seasons, the harmonius correlation of the forces of nature.
Many theories exist about its true meaning, but in general it has denoted good fortune, happiness and well-being.
Used ornamentally, in the ancient and classical world, the device has adorned coins, pottery, mosaics, tombs, funerary monuments, and in association with the Christian cross, has been found in the catacombs and on Celtic gravestones.
Five years of war cannot wipe out five thousand years of history!!
